Former San Francisco Giants great Buster Posey is looking to snag a buyer for his 106-acre ranch in Oroville, CA. Called Springer Lodge, the outdoor paradise is going for $3.9 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The catcher and his wife, Kristin Posey, picked up the property in 2016 for $1.6 million. Now retired, the All-Star has headed back to his native Georgia and no longer has a need for his vacation home located about 150 miles outside of San Francisco.

Highlights of the vast offering include a lake, tennis court, two seasonal creeks, and acreage for hunting and fishing.

Posey bought the place to give his children a place to enjoy the outdoors, he told the Journal. “I grew up hunting with my dad and my brothers, and I formulated great childhood memories through that.”

Great getaway

The rustic retreat features a five-bedroom, 3,340-square-foot main house built in 2008. The open floor plan includes cathedral ceilings, a fireplace, and a cozy living area. The kitchen comes with a center island and a bar with seating. Other spaces include a built-in bunk room and a gym.

The Posey family added a two-story, 4,800-square-foot red barn with a game room, storage, fireplace, and bathroom. There’s also a caretaker’s house and a shop on the property.

The ranch serves as a “vacation retreat, family compound, or the perfect property for the individual seeking privacy,” the listing notes.

The catcher also reportedly sold his Lafayette, CA, mansion earlier this year for $9.28 million. He had picked it up for $4,585,000 in June 2013.

Posey spent his entire 12-year career with the Giants, from 2009 until his retirement following the 2021 season. The seven-time All-Star won three World Series championships with the team.

Charlie Engs and John Ward with California Outdoor Properties hold the listing.
