Chris Martin Shuffles Malibu Property Portfolio, Sells Mansion for .4M

It’s been a busy December for Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin. He quietly sold a Malibu, CA, home for $14.4 million and then bought another home nearby, according to Dirt.

Love shack

The musician had been sharing his modern, Cape Cod-style abode in the exclusive Point Dume area with the actress Dakota Johnson, according to E! News. The two have been dating since 2017.

He had just purchased the beach house in 2020 for $12.5 million, but apparently received an off-market offer he couldn’t refuse.

After letting go of the posh pad, the English entertainer then turned around and poured the profits into a smaller, but more private, luxury home nearby.

The publication noted that this latest purchase adds to the three Malibu dwellings Martin already owns.

Stylish space

Let’s take a look at the place where the couple briefly lived.

Although it was built in 2008, the interiors were completely reimagined by Saffron Case Homes.

The spacious place includes five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as an additional two-story guesthouse.

Photogenic in the extreme, it features elements likely to appeal to celebrities, including vaulted ceilings, custom finishes, a game room, home theater, and a high-end, remodeled kitchen.

The living room is stocked with wood for the cozy fireplace, and the primary bathroom beckons, with a deep soaking tub.

Outside, set on just over an acre, the flat lawn with ocean views has plenty of room for a tennis court. Gated for privacy and security, the expansive space features outdoor fireplaces, a pool with spa, full outdoor BBQ area, and a wet bar.

The prime location is walkable to the beach, shops, and schools.

Along with her significant other, the “Fifty Shades of Gray” star also has a keen eye for real estate. In 2016, Johnson picked up a midcentury modern Los Angeles abode for $3.55 million, according to the New York Post. The swanky interiors were featured in Architectural Digest.

Martin, 44, who was previously married to the actress Gwyneth Paltrow, is the co-founder of the band Coldplay. He’s won seven Grammy Awards for his music and has sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
